My Trip to Italy: Fashion Deals, Trends and More….

Last week my husband and I traveled to Milan, the fashion capital of the world, to celebrate my birthday. We did a little research on all of the shopping outlets in Milan and surrounding cities, so as soon as we ditched our luggage, we were on the hunt for the best deals Milan had to offer. After strolling the city and taking a walk down Milan’s popular designer store street, Via Monte Napoleone, we noticed a couple of things. One, we were on the WRONG street for any deals and two EVERYONE was wearing down jackets a/k/a goose downs, including the dogs.

The outlet stores we did come across in Milan, were not outlet prices and the items were hit-or-miss. So we consulted with our hotel concierge and they advised us to take a hour bus ride to Fox Town, just over the Italian border in Switzerland. And boy, oh boy we were glad we did! The deals were absolutely unbelievable! Fendi, Chanel, Prada, Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Tods, Yves Saint Laurent and more all under ONE roof!

The next day we took a day trip to Venice from Milan. The trip was 2.5 hours by train, which allowed us to the see countryside of Italy and the many wine vineyards. Before we went to Venice, we were told it was a gorgeous and very romantic city, and we totally agree! We walked for miles and miles, bridge over bridge over bridge and it didn’t even feel like it because there was just sooooo much to see and take in. Besides being one of the most romantic and gorgeous cities in the world, Venice is also known for their glassware and carnival masks.

Venetian Masks were sold in just about every other store. The masks are typically worn during the Carnevale (Carnival of Venice).

I collect shot glasses as a souvenir from each city we visit and this is the glassware I purchased from Venice.

So back to Milan….. The ladies, men and even the dogs were fashionable. After I took in what the woman was wearing, I immediately glanced down to see what her pup was sporting. The Milan pups rocked scarves, gucci jackets and collars! So cute!  I would often see women riding their bikes in the city with their mink coats, heels and chanel bags.

I have never felt the urge to write a review about a hotel on Trip Advisor, but after staying here I HAD to.  Free breakfast everyday(not just OJ and bagels, I’m talking good stuff), free Wi-Fi, great location, clean rooms and helpful staff. One of the best we’ve ever stayed in. Very small boutique hotel with exceptional service!
