Cookie takes a sizable bite into the denim industry! CJ steps in and provides answers to calls for a serious premium denim for women with figures!

We had the pleasure of catching up with Cookie Johnson when she was here in Atlanta promoting her denim line CJ by Cookie at Neiman Marcus.  She was fresh off of her interview with Oprah where she announced that her jeans were amongst her, “Favorite Things.” The Oprah effect is notorious for sending consumers into buying frenzies over just the mention of an item.  We love, love, love Oprah but neither of us has ever really bought anything, just because, Oprah says that she likes it.  The show left us wondering, if Oprah’s ‘Favorite Things’ are the results of super duper PR pushes to get items featured on the show, or if these items are just really great?

The short answer of it all is that, at least in this case, the denim line from CJ by Cookie Johnson is REALLY as great as Oprah describes them!!  We were overly impressed with the feel and the natural stretch of the denim, something that we believe most denim makers just miss all together. When we tried the jeans they felt like our best pair of jeans that we already owned, the kind that took years of washing to get that perfect feel.  We didn’t have to fuss with the jean to get a good stretch, they just conformed to our bodies; they rate really high on our charts for comfort.  We knew that we’d be taking a pair of these home when we found that we could sit down and get up without our rear ends being exposed. Cookies jeans are a premium so they are comparable on every level to Seven, Citizens and Rich & Skinny, brands that we also love.  Next to comfort, well maybe on the same level as comfort…we couldn’t leave out the fact that Cookies jeans are very fashionable. Her line includes an ever popular skinny jean, a satin lined trouser, and a fabu boyfriend jean.  Other denim lines that claim to cater to curvy women add unnecessary bells and whistles to what could be a great jean but are quickly derailed with rhinestones, wacky pockets and stitching, that are Not Your Friend! With Cookies denim you can pair with your best blazer and stilettos for drinks with the girls or rock-them with your tee shirt and sandals while heading to the grocery store.
